Buyer’s Pick of the Week
by
Lindsay Burt on December 21st, 2009
My pick this week is an amazing statement dress that also transitions from season to season. It is the “Reena” Dress from the Diane Von Furstenberg resort collection. I love this dress because it looks so great with tights for holiday parties and New Year’s. However, it looks fantastic worn with just bare legs and a great pair of heels for the spring transition months to come. The print is fun and flirty without being overly girly and the ruching detail all over the dress helps to conceal and flatter the body. This dress would be a great piece for now and later on in the months to come!

Gossip Girl Stylist Writes a Book: “You Know You Want It”
by
Kristen Coulson on December 15th, 2009

We’re excited for the book “You Know You Want It” by Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman. Hoping it will offer more insight into the mind behind the fabulous and original styling of one of our favorite TV series. Eric and his team of 25 assistant stylists have impressed audiences and helped the wardrobe of GG become a character of its own. Items on Eric’s “wardrobe must haves” include a great fitting pair of denim (like Rich and Skinnys), a little white t-shirt (such as James Perse), a cocktail dress, and a quality handbag (Daman suggests this bag should set you back upwards of $200). Loaded with pictures this book is a coffee table accessory for those who love fashion. Don’t get your hopes up too high however….the GG characters are not the models. On sale now at Barnes and Noble for $22.49

Buyer’s Pick of the Week
by
Lindsay Burt on December 14th, 2009

My pick for this week is incidentally also on my Christmas wish list. The Marc by Marc travel accessories are the perfect gift this season for any women in your life. Whether it’s your mom, your sister, or a girlfriend, anybody would love to open up a package with a new cosmetic bag, travel pouch, or vanity case. They even make super cute laptop covers! And the best part is, none of these items will break the bank. They range in price from about $60-$180. So if you are still struggling with your holiday shopping this year–you can’t go wrong with any of these very cute, but functional accessories.

Spotlight On: 3.1 Phillip Lim
by
Kristen Coulson on December 11th, 2009

The Look
Laid-back refinement with moments of romance.
The Label
In less than three years, Phillip Lim has crafted a covetable line with strong roots in clean American sportswear. He launched the collection in 2004 as a counterpoint to the loud, often too arty clothes coming off the runways. Here, girls who eschew fussiness in favor of streamlined looks with personality and an attention to detail, always find just the right thing. His dresses float prettily about while cool coats in natty fabrics ground the collection.
The Designer
Lim was once a design assistant at Katayone Adeli, after which he followed up with Development in his native Orange County, California. Somewhat superstitiously, he named his signature collection 3.1, after the age when he made his solo break. Just one year into his 3.1 Phillip Lim venture, he was tapped with a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? A similar question could be posed about entertainer Lady Gaga and her fashion choices… are the runways inspired by Lady Gaga or is Lady Gaga inspired by the runways?

I find myself pulling on my motorcycle boots day after day regardless of the rest of my ensemble. Whether I’m wearing leggings and a sweater or denim and a blazer these boots are my go to footwear. Sturdy and rugged enough for any weather the more I wear them the more I love the worn look.

Buyer’s Pick of the Week
by
Lindsay Burt on December 7th, 2009
My pick for this week is the Haute Hippie “Twisted Bubble Hem Skirt”.
I think it’s such a special piece to style with for holiday parties and events. Pair it with a fitted top, patterned tights and a killer pair of heels and you’ll have an edgy, but feminine look that’s a little more unique than the typically party dress.

Winter Chic Coats
by
Kristen Coulson on November 26th, 2009

Dressing for the changing cold temperatures seems like an easy task, but a lot of thought needs to go into mastering the winter layers without looking frumpy and unbalanced. Keeping in mind you have to be sensible about dressing for warmth, it is just as important to remain stylish with these pieces. There are a few key elements everyone should have for winter: a great coat and winter accessories. Once you have the coat, you just need to style with scarves, great boots, and a bag large enough to fit over all the layers. Take note from these New York dwelling fashionistas to get the look.

Style Envy: Rachel Bilson
by
Megan Sayler on November 24th, 2009

If we could pick one girl to stalk at the moment it would hands down be Rachel Bilson. The former OC cutie has been popping up daily in blogs and magazines showcasing her fresh and fun looks. Whether it is just a t-shirt and boyfriend jeans with an of-the-moment bag or a sophisticated evening look, Rachel is clearly not afraid to take risks in her wardrobe. One strong point Rachel is admired for is her ability to dress for her extremely petite frame. Since small frames can be easily overpowered, she takes advantage of the waist cinching belts, tucked in shirts, and mini dresses to accentuate her tiny figure. This may be just one of the reasons why we, like many others, are constantly wondering, “What would Rachel wear?” To get a little inspiration, take a look at some of Rachel’s on point looks.
