A Man’s Guide To: Hats

I grew up collecting hats (I’m not kidding), there was something about hats that I loved. I didn’t discriminate I had everything from a vintage custom made hat from the ‘60s to a Hershey kiss shaped hat, a birthday gift from my sister, to my crown jewel: a Shriner’s hat I scored at a vintage shop when I was about 12. I love hats but I’ve become much more selective in the past few years, I wish I could say the same for some of my brethren, I’ve seen one to many backward pre-distressed baseball hat. If you’re going to wear a hat here are my tips:

1.Buy a new baseball hat, bend the bill, wear it and love it. Just keep it in the traditional team colors (read: no neon)
2.You’re not Ashton Kutcher, it’s not 2004, go ahead and retire the trucker hat.
3.You’ll get more mileage from a natural colored trilby hat than you think.
4.If you do a patterned trilby go with an understated pattern like herringbone.
5.Please keep your hat on forward, please.

If you’re not a hat guy I recommend picking up one, and you don’t have to spend a ton of cash (check out Brixton, they have really great hats that are affordable).  Everyone loves a man in a hat too, it a great way to stand out without being obvious. So cover your heads with pride and confidence men.
