Britney Spears in Kansas City

If Kansas City hotel rooms are sold out then you know it is has to be for a good reason. Britney Spears Circus Tour was the answer for an explosion in visitors to the area last Thursday, April 2. Britney performed at the Sprint Center in Power and Light to a near sold out 16,500 person crowd weighted with women, girls and a splash of guys with tremendous energy for Brit Brit to return to tour after a 5-year break.
After an extended period of watching clowns, acrobats, and jugglers, Perez Hilton, the famous celebrity blogger, appeared on the circular scrim above the stage to introduce the “circus” act. Britney’s debut to the audience was spectacular as she was lowered down from the ceiling to her hit “Circus” as the Ringmaster wearing black vinyl dominatrix boots, a red ringmaster’s jacket over a black leotard with a bejeweled whip in her hands. Britney looked amazing with a fit body and perfect long blonde extensions. Smoke began to fill the main stage along with the three circular stages to create the “Three Ring Circus”, that kept the show moving across all three areas to perform to the entire crowd.
After the smoke cleared and the show continued it was questioned if she was singing live… if so it was difficult to tell. The incredible backup dancers, scene changes from the ceiling, Cirque De Soleil performances, fire elements, and intense choreography more than made up for it. The costume changes kept it entertaining as well as Britney’s wig changes. Spears kept it interesting by inserting a dance segment to mash ups with beats from Rihanna, MIA and a mix electronic beats. Notable scenes were “Gimme More” with martial arts, street dancers breaking into a military sound off and “Breathe on Me” with a vampire scene.
The show ended with Britney and her dancers in police costumes to “Womanizer” as confetti fell from the ceiling. The entertainment value was priceless and it was exciting to see the tabloid princess back in the game. You could only cheer her on and want to watch it again and again.
